Teacher Specialist, Extended Learning Program (ELP) and International Baccalaureate Program (IB), Salt Lake City School District, Utah

Description: The secondary magnet ELP and IB Specialist coordinates the ELP and IB Program located at West High School. The specialist oversees all services for the secondary ELP magnet and IB program, including the management of the IB program as required by the international organization; developing and implementing curriculum and instruction for advanced learners; providing advisory services to ELP and IB students at West High School and providing advisory services to other SLCSD schools interested in implementing an IB Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

bulletSecondary Teacher License and/or Counselor Certification
bulletMinimum 3 yrs. experience in education at the middle and high school level
bulletGifted Education Endorsement or be able to acquire the endorsement within two years

Preferred Qualifications:

bulletsuccessful experience in working with gifted and academically advanced students at the middle and high school level.
bulleta good knowledge base and understanding of IB.
bulletspecific characteristics and professional traits, (i.e., able to relate well to ELP and IB students, high energy level, flexibility, excellent organizational skills, ability to manage a budget, ability to handle multiple details, enthusiastic, imaginative, collaborative with students, teachers, parents, administration, community, ability to mediate complex issues and ability to handle numerous tasks).

POSITION DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES

Hunter College seeks candidates for the position of Director for its Institute for Gifted Education. The successful candidate will develop and lead a nationally recognized institute which - through research, community outreach, and teacher education and professional development - will be a dynamic center for the development of cutting-edge practices in the education of gifted children.

Building on the extraordinary academic quality of the Hunter College Campus Schools, and the rich academic resources of Hunter College including its School of Education, the Director will provide leadership for a wide range of interdisciplinary work with educators, K-12 school administrators, and social scientists to foster research projects and public policy briefs, certification in Gifted and Talented education for teachers, in-service professional development, and urban outreach to families and public services in the field of gifted education.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A Doctoral degree is required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership and administrative skills in the field of gifted education, will have knowledge of the current state of research in the field, will have a track-record of working with collaborative projects, and show evidence of having worked with multiple constituencies in the education field.

Duke University Talent Identification Program Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral Research Associate position.  The starting date for this position is negotiable.   Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. 

Duke TIP is a national leader in identifying academically gifted children and adolescents and providing innovative campus-based and distance education programs.  Duke TIP seeks a postdoctoral research scientist scholar who will work with the Director of Research to conduct research on gifted children, policy issues related to the gifted, and program effectiveness. 

Candidates should have a doctorate in psychology, educational psychology, or a closely related field, with expertise in educational research, measurement, multivariate statistics, and quantitative research methods.  Preference will be given to candidates with strong quantitative skills and knowledge of the gifted field.  The postdoctoral Research Associate will join a vibrant community of Duke educational research scholars from the Department of Psychology, Program in Education, and the Center for Child and Family Policy.  More information concerning Duke TIP can be found at www.tip.duke.edu.

Gifted Development Center, CO - Looking for a few Good Testers!

The Gifted Development Center is seeking to hire additional examiners.  We are looking for qualified individuals who are experienced in administering individual IQ tests. We expect our testers to also be experienced with gifted children and their families, to share our passion for this population and be able to develop rapport with young gifted children.

We hold extremely high standards of report writing for all of our staff. All reports go through a rigorous review process; therefore, it will also be necessary for candidates to generate well-written reports. Sample reports, with all identifying information removed, should be submitted with resumes. It wouldn’t hurt to be able to read upside-down, as well!
